Pre- and Post-Purchase Vehicle Inspections – Queanbeyan
Are you looking to buy a used vehicle? – or just purchased one? A pre- or post-purchase vehicle inspection takes the mystery out of buying a used car – leading to better decision-making and greater peace of mind. Where a physical inspection isn’t possible, we provide a high-level digital vehicle inspection (DVI) service.
During a physical inspection, we look the vehicle over from top to bottom – noting any obvious faults and serious potential issues. Our inspection aims to draw your attention to issues affecting vehicle safety, reliability and roadworthiness.
Helpful hints when buying a used vehicle
- Search well-known automotive websites, such as Carsales and Redbook, to benchmark used car prices.
- When buying privately, make sure you sight the logbook (to ensure the vehicle has been serviced regularly), check for encumbrance (money owed on the vehicle)* and organise a pre-purchase vehicle inspection.
- A Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) check can be performed online via a number of 3rd party providers.
- Although buying a vehicle privately is usually cheaper than from a dealer, be aware that there’s no statutory warranty or cooling-off period.
- A licensed motor vehicle dealer must provide a statutory warranty on a used car that’s less than 10 years old and travelled under 160,000 kilometres. A used car statutory warranty is valid for three months or 5,000 kilometres (whichever comes first).
- Buying a used car from a licensed motor vehicle dealer ensures guaranteed title; in other words, the vehicle can’t be repossessed by a finance provider.
- If a private seller or car dealer refuses your request for a pre-purchase vehicle inspection, you may be better off walking away from the sale.

If your vehicle is managed by another fleet company, we may still be able to repair or service it (we simply need authorisation from the fleet manager).
